First: I got me a lot of time left for the game and played at irregular intervals.
And I've come to a playing time of 30-35 hours. For me the game was solid and I did not expect more.
What's in a game at the most important for me is the atmosphere and the atmosphere. And that's why I like the games from Piranha Bytes particularly.
And Risen 2 provides is no exception.
Annoying I found that the game a partially linear occurs - especially in the beginning - even if it was so intended by PB
(Which has nothing to do with "beginner friendly").
I was glad, after all, the order of which being able to choose what I do in the second half of the game.
To combat system: I do not know why you can now beat indefinitely succession ... This is for me the criticism of the combat system.
After a patch there is an alternative function which was urgently needed.
Besides the fact that I can beat indefinitely without pauses but the combat system is ok for me.
Graphics looks good. I have no higher claims in an RPG like this, which comes from a small team of developers.
Soo, of course there are things that I compared to its predecessors disturb (Warning: slight spoilers):
And I'll go on a replayability.
What I think (my opinion!) The replay value is enormously reduces the shortage of challenges. When I play a game the second time I will not again
do all the quests in the same order. I want to be rewarded to me a particular subject perhaps even prefer difficult quests.
I miss the "secret" places in the game where you can sometimes find a powerful weapon. All weapons I had bought from traders ... It's boring me.
And the permanently acting plants bring hardly anything (for there are at least artifacts). The result is, for example, not the need of any special plants take.
(I am thinking here of especial Gothic 2 where you want to skip any sorrel, where to find weapons like the Dragon cutting, or a rapier, where you can look forward to times right!).
Unfortunately, even the skilling of skills to little infuence (Especially for me, as "Voodoo Pirate"). The variety of spells is damn modest!
About the story: Since I have really nothing to complain about. Wherever Risen 1 after the first half was rather monotonous, Risen 2 was constantly telling the story.
The seaport in Risen 1 has lent super much. But after she was dead and that had bothered me. In Risen 2 I was glad that the islands
on the one had ever been involved in sometimes new quests. This increases the credibility.
While we're at credibility:
Especially shame, I found that there was no serious conflict between the Inquisition and the aborigines.
You do not see the point in joining a party. It is not enough that both factions just willing to keep only some way
to fulfill a certain Quest!
I really feel that the guild system was simply moved from pure principle and not in order to express something.
The differences between the Partein came for me at Piranha Bytes games only in Gothic 1 and 2 really good over.
Even in Risen 1 you have noticed the Inquisition trailer next to nothing of the bandit.
A small advantage in terms of credibility, there is because my Begeleiter actively participate in discussions (and constant! So not only at the beginning of the game).
Then there are some little things about which I can look away.
So there are some small graphic ugliness Heite (animations), there are no pointless Interatktionen more (Ohh how bad)
I fall into the water the screen goes black and I just respawne and I can not kill anyone (gutting would have been really in it!) ...
My conclusion is: In spite of many smaller criticisms a nice game and compared to many for me to superficial other RPGs for me 4 star value.
