At some point I had read in forums of common issues with MacBooks, if, for example RAM is upgraded and SSDs I had just as priceless memories. Since my MBP but outwardly still looks like new and the battery is three years, and daily use even at fabled 93% capacity, I found a new purchase simply nonsensical.
After less than half an hour researching on the net it was clear to me: I change RAM and HDD from easy.
This decision I have not regretted it for a second. The exchange of the hardware (both RAM and SSD) are incidentally very easy - why I have long urged me not, I do not remember.
Net interest's sake I did a speed test before replacing the hard drives: my HDD came to 40 to 44 MB / s read and write. After installing the SSD values are at 10 times!
With SSD, the boot process is dramatically shorter, after registration of the desktop is now complete since (formerly the menubar gradually loaded). All programs start almost immediately, and it can work fluidly. Also Aperture (on a Mac Yes repeatedly viewed critically due to the high resource requirements) now is fun because it is "normal fast" operated arise without long waiting times.
Feels like I now have a new MacBook for relatively little money (compared to buying a new one).
I briefly considered whether I look at the 840 EVO Basic or should bring 840 Pro Series. Ultimately, I have yet decided on the Pro, as I frequently do video editing and this SSD can play to their advantages when writing large amounts of data.
Tip for Mac owners: for devices in the not "Apple SSDs" be installed TRIM is not enabled by default. Activation is in SSDs important so erased blocks are immediately available and the performance remains high (avoid fragmentation). This can easily be made up via free search engine (Google: "Trim Enabler Mac")
