As a relatively new Reinhard Mey Fan the second generation I visited for the first time ever, a concert of Mey last fall 2014. Of course, I knew the songs of Mey for some time, but intensively with him I was until I myself have a family have founded and became father. All the more then his fate moves me deeply. Much has been written about it and Mey is not the only person on earth who has to cope with such a blow. But the way we he does it, touched me deeply in my heart. What started "May rain" with the song "dragon's blood" in the album, was "Now let go of the rudder" and "Then take care" continues a very sad way. I can not hear these songs until today without the suppressed tears to my eyes. In particular, the already older "Little Comrade" touches me particularly. I do not know if it was dedicated to his son Frederik Mey or Maximilian. But the text has an almost uncanny prescience:
"... The world is me probably a little bit empty Each way you're going alone, ... My little buddy, that's just, There's no special treatment for us: It separates the best of friends, this life ... "
The concert was for me a highlight, an experience of a very beautiful way. Laughter and tears alternated and this album is a worthy and successful memory of that evening. Thank Reinhard Mey that you manage time and again to direct all of your favorite songs that focus on the essentials.
