Before the game was in the shops, I (Subtitles only dt there.) Was due to the lack of language localization skeptical, but I let the five just be yet bought the Date 'Thief-Deadly Schadows' and not regret it. HARDWARE ========= The hardware requirements are not low, but made very clearly marked on the package. I count times all supported graphics cards: ATI Radeon 8500/9000/9200/9600/9800 NVidia GeForce 3Ti series, 4Ti series, FX series, 6 series All other cards such as GeForce Go 4MX or are not supported. Otherwise running 'Thief' 1.5 GHz, 256 MB RAM, and requires Win2000 / XP. I 'ne Geforce 3 Ti, Athlon 1600+, 512 Ram and it runs on 1024x768 at medium detail ~ relatively liquid. GRAPHICS ====== 'Thief' uses the new Unreal engine and thus dominates dynamic shadows, bump mapping, normal mapping, etc. The game makes sensible use of the functions of the engine and looks accordingly from wunderhübsch - even on low details. SOUND ===== 'Thief' uses the same sound engine that was used in the two predecessors. That is good localizable sound and excellent sound effects. (EAX 5.1 is supported) STORY ===== The story worth telling around the protagonist Garrett is exciting staged and intensified as the game progresses. There are some real surprises and twists - you just recognize Warren Spector's handwriting) ATMOSPHERE =========== The atmosphere is probably the highlight of the Games. Dark and mystic presents the medieval town of the player. Guards patroillieren grumbling and coughing through the narrow winding streets and citizens to tell the latest gossip. You do not feel as a viewer, but is in the middle. LEVEL DESIGN ============ The levels are all beautiful, believable and designed atmosphere. Loading zones connect the medium-sized portions to each other, everything is still all of a piece. GAMEPLAY and characteristics ========================== Garrett lives in a city that is divided into 5 districts. Thus, there are the slums, the docks, or even 'Auldale', the meeting place of the local in-crowd. Garrett has her own apartment and can between the missions in the city rumgaunern, ie breaking into houses or passers stiebitzen the purse.
