The FiiO X1 affects real noble, as in the pictures. A black, "unfortunately fusselaffine" Silicone Case is.
After unpacking you are usually a bit perplexed, because the instructions supplied (not in German) is .... with all significantly better already loadable FiiO Shop English instructions, the various questions nevertheless leaves open despite extensive FAQ section.
So once charging 2 hours, then by all means download and install new firmware. What firmware was actually on it, has not necessarily revealed to me in the corresponding display window immediately; at least after the upgrade, the window looked different and some features were also there. Then should the Micro SD not format and loaded in the computer, but you format the FiiO slide (bottom side up!) And there via menu settings. After the FiiO to the PC and the songs with drag and drop using the supplied USB cable over slide. Before you want to hear, update media library (went the first time only manually; after that, however, every time automatically, after separating the player from PC.) Here we go.
Sound is great. I use the file format Flac; but also in MP3 format, the sound is much better than the smartphone (compared with iPhone and HTC One M8, both yes fairly good audio components have). The advertised DAC from TI do seem to bring something and have the net also a good rating!
Software of FiiO is something for purists; but everything that you need. The default screen display, however, is simply too bad. While efforts are being displayed in the color cover, but the settings are all in a verwaschenden, extremely low-contrast gray-brown. At Sun we see nothing !! After 2 days I have set then found in the settings under "about" the possibility of other baked layouts. This readability is clearly improving.
Own technique:
Utilised headphones: BeoPlay H6
Conversion software from the CD: Cdex with en Flac Encoder, 44.1; 16 bit (ie CD quality), 24 bit tried, does not help. ALAC also runs; but also been heard no difference. Both Lossless formats but better than good MP3.
So: 5 stars because of the sound it is indeed at the end!
