Certainly, you can approach the subject Jarrett controversial because he cared not least in his recently published interview (time, SPIEGEL), supported by a barely scratched self-confidence, for plenty of conversation. One could also argue that the umpteenth variant of "Straight, No Chaser" is one too many, etc., etc.. Only, the present panel seems to be the wrong object in order to work off critical to Jarrett's work to me. It is in my opinion simply outstanding, especially because by proposing here with all three members of the trio, alongside Jarrett known Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette b dm, a great playfulness and joy. Time, place and audience seemed to agree with this appearance. As before, the program consists of proven standards such as "Oleo", "Green Dolphin Street" or the aforementioned "Straight, No Chaser", the latter is very freely addressed. But the trio moves even further, in this case jazz history in a sense back by also songs like "Is not Misbehavin '" and "Honeysuckle Rose" were included in the repertoire; with great profit, because the musicians ride this Fats Waller warhorses masterfully. Jarrett, who suffered a long and serious illness, has returned with his congenial colleagues in astonishing freshness.
