Impression after a week: very good.

After an HP Officejet 8600 Plus after one day due to totally inadequate print quality (the internal buffer memory is not sufficient and therefore 2MB large photos in clear portions of 3-4cm width are printed on A4) and indiskutabel slower scanning speed (both functions was tested over USB, LAN and WLAN) Lexmark was ordered and delivered quickly. So far I had only HP devices (laser and the test with the HP inkjet printers)

First the positive points that I noticed so far:
- Packaging very stable. Unit was easy to unpack and set up.
- Full set of cables. Open access to the sockets on the device. Stable machine body. In addition to the ink cartridges not separate units to be installed.
- Printed Quick Install Guide and complete installation instructions. Everything on CD.
- The SW installation with the supplied CD is not recommended (eg error when entering WLAN SSID passwords with special characters). Therefore, current SW from the Internet (~ 230MB) and install prior to connection of printer and PC.
- Installation requires first USB connection, which is isolated in front of WLAN configuration and can remain separate for success. (Perform wireless configuration from a PC - WLAN configuration on the device has made trouble for me)
- Configuration of all functions (print, scan, fax (about old Fritz Box Fon / ISDN) with WLAN) without problems though time-consuming.
- Touch screen very easy to operate. Sorted Configuration menu on the printer and to the extent reasonable and complete.
Multifunction test via USB, LAN and WLAN connections showed no differences in quality only different durations, with WiFi was pretty fast - and my WLAN is quite old.
- Color photos & SW-text on plain paper is fast and very well printed.
- The scans are created quickly and in good quality.
- Send faxes / received with address book feature is simple and good quality.
- The automatic duplex feature thicker stack of originals when scanning works cleanly. The two-sided printing is also rapidly vonstatten.
- The power saving function is good and perfectly adequate for my needs.

Now for the negative points:
- Warming up takes a long felt and is clearly audible as ever:
- Print & Scan are a bit noisy - all compared to the HP product
- Some PC software functions need to be improved: for example, selectable scan-neck.
- In comparison a few kilos heavier but not visually clunky.
- However, a housing in high-gloss black looks just as long as chic as you can not touch it - but who can already at a multifunction device. The attached Putzläppchen can compensate only partially in my office.

But that's it - no real flaws. I can say nothing about the printing costs.
In sum, I can now only recommend the device. The price is also currently fallen by 40% on the HP level.
