Impressive monitor with little technical weaknesses

The construction goes quickly out of hand and is completely to do without tools. The quality of workmanship and the materials used are perfectly matched and I would all call quality.

As for the ergonomics of the monitor is compared to other low-cost monitors no limits. Both height, rotation, tilt and tilting is possible in all directions in sufficient scope. The pivot function is also a nice addition.

The image quality is as expected for a VA panel impressive and in my opinion is similar to IPS. For me, anyway, it is felt no retrogression been of an IPS monitor to switch to a VA.

But now to the reasons why I actually compose this review: The monitor has (at least not in this price range) and the sound on paper first interesting fact some gadgets that you so not find everywhere.

- USB Hub: The monitor is 3.0 cable connected via a standard USB to the PC and offers 2x USB 3.0 on the right side and additional 2x USB 2.0 on the bottom right. The USB 2.0 ports I use with my mouse and keyboard and USB 3.0 connections are still free for USB sticks, external hard drives etc. is positive in this case in particular, that the USB ports remain connected even when the monitor is off to the PC.

- Card Reader: Also on the right side there is a card reader. This I have not been used and the provision runs over the same USB 3.0 port as the USB hub. The only disadvantage of the card reader is that it is displayed as an empty drive, even when no card is inserted, but you can live with (just change the drive letter, and then it does not bother more).

- Motion sensor: The monitor has centered on the underside a motion sensor that automatically turns off the monitor when there is no longer a person is near. In the OSD can be adjusted to recognize up to what distance the monitor persons (close, medium, wide). So far so good, but unfortunately, the whole works not at all satisfactory, because despite setting "far" recognizes me the monitor only at a distance of about 50-60cm. This means as long as I maintain before the monitor sitting is all ok, but as soon as I lean back in the chair to relax reading something the monitor goes out because he does not recognize me anymore. This is quite a shame, because thus the sensor is quite useless, because who works for a 32 "monitor with such a short distance? I would rather say I still pretty close to it sit and rule is more likely that you can sit further away . The settings "close" and "medium" in any case are completely absurd, at "close" I have already my hand right in front of the sensor so keep the monitor does not turn off.

- Brightness sensor: The brightness sensor is located next to the motion sensor and to regulate the backlight depending on the ambient brightness. First sounds to a very interesting feature, which is already a common practice in most smartphones and partly also in televisions and in my experience, also works perfectly. Unfortunately, BenQ has it here and also managed the whole not reasonable to implement. On the one hand the monitor after turning on is always on the brightness set by OSD and regulates itself when it is dark only gradually down, but felt almost takes 1 minute. Means so if you sit in a nearly dark room, then you are blinded first 1-2 minutes until the brightness has arrived at a pleasant level. So, so you could almost still be alive, but unfortunately, the monitor comes with each change the resolution back to maximum brightness mode and that is correct annoying (eg you start a game that unfortunately does not run at the native resolution and is first blinded again and the same behavior is then also again when you quit the game any). Thus, by protecting eyes actually be no question and to the sensor is intended actually. It is then neglecting almost that the sensor can only be used with the image modes "Standard" and "savings" and it's not possible to access all functions for image matching in both modes (eg, saturation, gamma, custom color temperature).

The sensors not function as I would expect really, so is a great pity, but as I previously also could live without this on a PC monitor, it is also now possible. Nevertheless, I prefer it from a star because my expectations therefore unfortunately could not be fully met. Possibly are also just my faulty sensors (ie at least the motion sensor), but since I'm going to wait and see what will come in to further reviews in the near future.

In short therefore a very nice monitor that visually makes some ago, provides a great image, can be perfectly adapted to work and only in the B-Note provides some weaknesses (brightness and motion sensor).
