In the battle!

Before I get into the actual review, I want to give a very important note here: The game can not (!!), as stated, to install under Windows 98SE! The installer stops under Win98SE with the message that Windows 2000 or XP are required. Oddly enough, the game runs under Windows 98SE, however, assuming you have two systems on a PC. I have two systems (98SE and 2000) on a computer and had to install the game on Windows 2000.

But now the game:

"Battlefront" is something like "Counter Strike" in the Star Wars universe. One chooses a side (rebels or stormtroopers or clone troopers or droid army) and pounces on different planets into the fray. Apart from two campaigns that you have to play in a predetermined order, there is also the galaxy conquest in which one can choose his side and the time period (or Clone Wars Rebellion) free. Each side has five different soldier units with their advantages and disadvantages. So there are in the ranks of the Imperial stormtroopers during the rebellion the "classic" stormtroopers (episodes IV to VI) with blaster rifle and thermal detonator equipped, by the way, on the ice planet the thermal armor from "The Empire Strikes Back" bears! Yes, because you have paid attention to subtleties. One fights in the era of the Clone Wars, so see the stormtroopers also, as in the episodes I to III. The same goes for the rebel or Droidenseite - whether rebel pilot in orange jumpsuit or Droidensoldat ("Roger, Roger!"), The details are right.
The gameplay is simple but damn fun! Select unit, select Respawnpunkt and get started. Either you walk on foot or you can use an existing vehicle types. Depending on the world you are in, there are several. Whether X-Wing or TIE fighter, imperial runners (AT-ST or AT-AT!) Or glides. Even Jedi heroes (eg Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader) are used, albeit not controllable.

The worlds will be fought on those taken from original films. So there Kashyyk where you must fight for the beach section of the lake, the desert planet Tatooine with street fighting in Mos Eisley or Cloud City Bespin. Even original battles from the movies are playable. The battle for Echo Base on the ice planet Hoth offers the duels between Snowspeeders with their catch cables and the Imperial AT-AT's - and they are really fucking great! In the Battle of Endor was also very careful attention to detail. So constantly yelling Ewoks in the background while they actively support the rebels, Imperial Scouts whiz with their Speederbikes through the woods and AT-ST walkers stomp through the woods, laser shots crashing ... on Tatooine Jawas race through the streets of Mos Eisley and Sand People can be dangerous in the desert even both sides! The atmosphere is just awesome in every combat zone. Musically the whole is supported by the original music by John Williams.

For graphics: Excellent, even with minimal settings.
