Under the dozen publications of Jarrett's live solo concerts with mostly free improvisations takes "Concerts" rather an inconspicuous rank, but wrongly. In early summer 1981, Jarrett played by a Japanese tour several concerts in Central Europe, of which that have appeared later in Bregenz and a few days in Munich as a 3-LP set. In the Re-Issue CD has waived the Munich recording and only the 50-minute recording of the Bregenz concert used. That was at least two reasons a very wise decision of ECM, because first is "Concerts" with its only four tracks an extremely dense testimony to the highest creativity and the most creative phase Jarrett between the mid-1970s and the early 1990s and shows the total variability his improvisations. Second, only one title of the Munich concert is on CD so far published, namely "Part 4" on the "rarum" sampler, and this is really not worth listening too. One can at Jarrett never close from one piece to an entire concert, but I miss "Munich" as a separate publication on CD even not really. Only the "Heartland" recording would interest me, because on the 3-LP are both from Bregenz and from Munich concert versions of this classic contain and the Bregenz variant belongs to the finest thing about ever published by Jarrett. To kneel down nicely! The main title of "Concerts" is structured in two parts 33-minute film, which reveals all the stops Jarrett'scher game art. Fine melodies at the beginning, a theme that will be taken up again and again, then it is more expressive and "harder", but without the too free to drift Any. At the end Jarrett will then gentle, very quiet, lyrical tones and can thus finish the piece mild. The "Untitled" said shorter second track is a rhythmic stomping blues-like piece, which is supported by a driving left, while the right hand is suitable for this purpose runs. The final is fantastic! The addition "Heartland" completes the short, but very, very good slice from a dream.
