After the first 5000 photos I can say: Definitely. Of course, I have to because even conquer a lot and discover, but I can say now:
Pro:
* Once again, much less noise
* Viiiiiiiiel faster. The autofocus is a dream, saving is very fast, it is just the way you look at the presents
* The 1000 Zoom comes just fine. One can use it freehand really still. It has just again a little more thrust at animal photos, you need.
* The Q menu is indeed used to, but brings a lot of settings on the quick.
* The completely invertible display makes possible entirely new shots.
* The video is much better now with the zoom.
* 1000 photos per battery charge (of a cheap third-party)
Contraindications:
* You can tilt the screen when unfolded upwards or downwards only. Is sometimes more complicated than before.
* The exposure is better than that of the HS20, but still tends to over-exposure
* The video is saved still in MOV format
But to be honest: So a good camera it never for so little money was still.
Update:
Who wants to see some sample images can look at my blog. Nearly all photos from 2013 are made with the HS50: [...]
By comparison, nearly all of the year 2011 are made with the HS20.
