An excellent book. Surprised, as French, to discover this true story written by an American. A very well written and informative book. The only criticism I would make is the way (from the author) enter Dumas of life in the history of France and particularly the tendency to give a very negative image of Napoleon for the sole purpose to elevate the history of "Black Count". It helps, of course, to justify the writing of this story (if it does not fit into a historical context, this story has no interest), but it could have been done with a little more objectivity.
