Wish You Were Here (Experience Edition in Digipack) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

My favorite Floyd album. The last, on which they still act as a band, although Nick Mason was first appeared as the (co-) author of a piece.

Since I have finally, the Experience Edition. Actually, I just wanted the bonus tracks. The 2011 Remaster must unfortunately be system sold. But the price is just under 13 euros for the double-disc really okay.

I already have the probably first CD edition of WYWH (since about 1990). And what should I say? I raise the volume of the first dubbing of something, the sound is almost identical - got it on the computer with Sennheiser headphones compared. It was fortunately totkomprimiert nothing but the 2011 remaster is compared slightly bass-driven, which is why I sound the old version a little more comfortable. The Remaster itself mE therefore superfluous.

Among the bonus tracks:

Three tracks, 50 Minutes Live from Wembley concert in 1974. Pink Floyd pure, even without guest musicians! The quality is ok (much better than the bootlegs I've listened to it on YouTube) - but why was the live version of the grand embezzled "Echoes"?

Gilmour's guitar I feel in some places as too much in the foreground, the drums could sound a little clearer in the mix, the most beautiful sound even the keyboards and vocals. But one must not forget that this is a document from 1974, compared to the bootlegs of the sound is as I said very neatly.

The best thing is that we may see a band that experimented looking what they can get out alone from their four characters. Fortunately, it is not perfect yet. Wen the development of the band and the compositions obtained interested, here a very interesting insight.

"Wine Glasses" would have been able to save, not essentially different from the LP intro.

"Have a Cigar" as Waters / Gilmour duet I found 'live' already miserable. Although Waters Roy Harper's interpretation hate - me is Harpers fine ironic undertones much better than Waters whining. The version is a little longer and apparently 'in Progress': Gilmour is still waiting in the solo to the brilliant inspiration and even Rick Wright experimented cautiously with sounds and tones.

"Wish you were here" is arranged somewhat differently: a gap between first and second verse. The violinist was apparently no use for the piece that uninspired fiddling not underlines the character of the song - apparently undecided whether rather the country note should be underlined or just a few padding to leave. Good that this version is not landed on the final album.

The scandal par excellence: The booklet is an impertinence. Apart from the well-known artwork and the usual text is there: nothing! How would it be with a few information about the recordings, a few data about the concert. Or the original texts of "Sheeps" and "Dogs", here as "Raving" and "You've got to be crazy"? A few anecdotes? Nix !!! (Oh yes, there is also the official DVD for Making of the album sent other day at Arte Reine wonâ -.. The DVD would be able to settle here.)

Well, how do you evaluate the whole? The original album is sublime. It can only go to the bonus. That's very nice for die-hard fans, as normal consumer does not need the more tracks. The unproductive Booklet reduces the assessment.

I now give four stars to be able to hold for the reason anything official from this exciting time in their hands.
