The installation, however, was a no-brainer - especially since I bought the Power Line Set. This set is obviously equal configured both devices can kommunieren each other immediately. It was not much more than poke the respective cable and you're done.
Product Search
I had products from TP-Link Devolo and in their sights. The performance data were similar. On Devolo I liked that I had on a device available two (or more) Ethernet ports. But both TP-Link as well as Devolo I have read of whistling noises during operation - something I absolutely do not want to have. In addition, I read out the reviews on TP-Link that AVM FRITZ! is definitely recommended to anyone who wants to configure anything around.
520E / 546E / 530E?
For me it was an embarrassment of choices which device I should take. Against 546E spoke to one of the price - and that I was about to switch to dLAN, because I had problems between WLAN (and / or the router) and Windows 8. So I did not need the wireless functionality of the 546E.
Against 530E said only if I am right, that there is no Gigabit port.
Socket
Otherwise, it was clear that I take a device with integrated socket, because I read in different recommendations that you should not use extension cords to the equipment. Since I live in an older home with a few outlets, extension cords are more the rule.
Now, the 520E is preceded by an extension cord, hanging on the still quite a number of electrical appliances. I have some concern if all devices go into operation if there is any problems since. But so far, it behaves completely unobtrusive.
Accessories
To save on dLAN devices - and because outlets but are also scarce, I use Powerline ultimately only as a bridge from the hallway into the living room. There again, two computers (a desktop, a laptop). To connect two devices, I decided to invest a little more in cables and to get me a gigabit switch. Overall, my shopping list looked like this:
* Non-standard cables of BIGtec: CAT.7 gigabit network cable
* Gigabit Switch: TP-Link TL-SG1005D Gigabit Desktop Switch (5-port)
* And of course the powerline adapters
Effect
First of all I'm going wireless problems that now occupied me for almost a month. There was constant disconnections where could not help me and the network operator. This problem I am going now, thanks to dLAN. The connection was immediate. And even better: The connection speed has increased significantly - at least during the download. From earlier on average 28000 kbit / s I am now at about 41,000 kbit / s.
No improvement was personalize it with the hard drive connected to the router. As with the wireless transfer rate is 2.5 MB / sec - but here is, after everything I've read, even more, the router is the bottleneck.
For this first experience so great a strong buy recommendation.
