Customer Review

Woodkid.
I had never heard the name and I came over 1Live where the song "I love you" was played on the album and I must say: what I've got to hear this just blew me.
However, I can only report of the listening experience this sensational CD because me the trappings relatively little interest, so who what instruments or was how long the studio where Woodkid grew up or what he did for musical idols - no idea.

A warning first: He who hears only Plastikpop, Children Techno or lawnmower rock here is certainly wrong.
Those who like embarking on demanding music that tells stories, music, touches the emotions and not afraid of the big orchestra - this is the place.

Even the dreamy opening bars of "The Golden Age" tell more than many other singers on a whole album. The use of instruments (piano, strings, wind instruments) gives the stories in his lyrics Woodkid transported an unfathomable depth that you do not take all day.
So a little reminded me the CD to a really good soundtrack for a movie called "life".

Sometimes there are percussion instruments refine the songs, sometimes sounds an accordion through, sometimes horns are used and also the use of a choir is not afraid of the musicians.
You think you are at the beginning of "The Great Escape" yet in 50s tearjerker then go rhythmically rather continue through the Wild West.
Right after that again a fragile ballad like "Boat Song" - the album is just really diverse. The great "I love you" is likely to be well known by the use of the radio yes. "The Shore" is then again as an artistic ballad with an orchestra and a lot of piano - except epic hardly come to mind adjectives to describe the songs :-)
"Ghost Lights" is again a good title to talk about Wood Kids extraordinary voice. sometimes close to Antony Hegarty but then again different and closer to Charlie Winston - just Woodkid. Equally extraordinary as his music. Topics of the songs appear slightly modified in other songs - the compositions and the structure of the album can not really be that you can only look at individual songs.
The gloomy "Stabat Mater" (at least, I find it bleak), "The Other Side, the grandiose finale and" Iron "are undoubtedly the highlights, but pick out really I could no song as an absolute favorite song. Because in every song there is at to discover new facets each listen. Whether kaskadeskes flute, dramatic piano runs or simply orchestral goosebumps moments "The Golden Age" is simply a musical piece of cake.

An album that challenges thus deal. Just by listening is a waste!
