Now What ?! (Gold Edition) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Deep Purple with me since my youth. In my shelf are very many, but certainly not all publications of the band. The live albums here take for me a special significance. Therefore, at first I was indeed on "Now What ?!" interested as a studio recording, but my enthusiasm was somewhat limited. For this reason I have waited with the acquisition first. Then came the "Gold Edition" To my surprise. On this double album, in addition to the studio album still two bonus tracks and a live recording to be heard. Since there was for me no support. In addition, the very favorable price, and the beautifully designed cover facilitated my decision to buy.
Now I've heard the album several times. Now I'm glad that I decided to buy it. The Live CD is a real hammer and unjustifiable already alone the acquisition. Although the recordings of various concerts originate. Steve Morse shines all along the line. Especially the instrumental "Contact Lost" it did to me. Even "All the Time in the World", a song of the new studio CD is beautiful. Excellent is also the song "Vincent Price". Overall, the live songs sound much more dynamic and more intense than on the studio CD. The Live CD is rounded off with some classics of the band, like "Strange Kind of Woman", "Hard Loving Man", "No One Came", "Perfect Stranger", "lazy", "Black Night" and "Smoke On The Water ". All of them are of course familiar and yet they are experiencing a new stand-alone presentation. Wunderbar!
The album I've listened to the live recording and am very surprised at the freshness of the songs. Nothing sounds altbackend. All songs move in the here and now of rock music and could still from a bygone era Deep Purple come. "Out Of Hand" for example, would also fit very well in the 1984 published album "Perfect Stranger". My favorite song of the Studio CD is "Uncommon Man" while my out tip. Again shines Steve Morse with his way of playing the guitar. It's a song, as I like him. He has time to unfold. Starts slowly and then picks up speed. Deep Purple is again a band, because of the boarded place of the unfortunately deceased keyboardist Jon Lord, Don Airey, shines with its homogeneous key game. It fits wonderfully and pushes the music yet his own stamp on. This experienced musician who already played together with bands like, Colosseum II, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Gary Moore, Brian May, Jethro Tull, Whitesnake, Michael Schenker Group, Rainbow and Strawbs enriched to degrade without Jon Lord, the band. As an example, I call the song "Après Vous".
Also, the album has taken me out of the synagogue. Deep Purple survived and how? This band thrilled the young rock generation and also made it very clear that occurs in Wacken. Deep Purple plays intergenerational rock music. Let's hope that we still long can proffer so wonderful music this old warhorse and be. Quite a whopping five stars are natural for these two CD's for me!
