Customer Review

The year is 2015 and the activities of the British hard rockers Uriah Heep seem undiminished even 46 years after the foundation of the band. At this point a personal note. I am pleased to have been with the band grow old together. Because when buying my first LP of Uriah Heep (Demons And Wizards)) in the early 70s and the live album January 1973, I never thought that I still am after Heep fan for over 40 years ... let that my favorite band still exists! Apart from the personnel changes and the ups and downs ... But Mick Box and Co. have done something of themselves ... They are a self-confident rock band, who are now grown beyond themselves and care for the past without copying themselves ,

In the last seven years, they presented three musical studio beads containing both traditional elements, which could be described as "Classic Heep", with plenty of organ and choirs, as well as modern and fresh-sounding rock music that certainly present in the time fit. In any case, some current rock band must stretch a bit off the charts in order as well as get hold only rudimentary. The current sweeping blow of the band called "Outsider" (June 2014) and makes even more clear in what good shape Uriah Heep are still.

In addition to three studio albums, there were during these past seven years still a secret "4." ... On the 40th anniversary, they presented with "Celebration" admissions old classic, but also re-recorded songs selected from more recent albums with Bernie Shaw as the lead singer plus two then in 2009 brand new studio songs.

The whole was accompanied by numerous worldwide tours. But also here in Germany passes to date, no year in which do not show up the "Heepsters" somewhere and ask for rock-musical reception ... I can assure all music lovers just put your heart, this invitation, if it then goes some way to follow ...

So even with this new publication at the last tour for the new album "Outsider" in 2014. It is not a new studio album. That would be a bit too much to ask in such a short time .... But once again a very successful live album. It was recorded in London. The concert there as a DVD or Bluray. Anyone who wants to is the box set with double-CD and DVD. That is probably the variant with the best price / performance ...

The track list is chosen very wisely. In addition to the indispensable classics (almost all are represented ...) falls, the more rare pieces "Traveller in Time" from the album "Demons And Wizards" from the time of David Byron in the 70's on. And of course the relationship is old vs. new material quite balanced with songs such as "One Minute", "Can not Take That Away" (both of Outsider 2014) or "Into The Wild", "The Ready" or "Nail On The Head" (2011). Worth listening to: The Mick Box "Wah Wah" Solo as a transition after "Look At Yourself"! Brilliant ...

The cover comes from the artist Igor Morsky who was responsible for the cover design of "Outsider". Stylistically unmistakable and also a trace of surrealist. Simply goes well with Heep ...

"Live At Koko" also pays sonically. The sound is fresh and crisp. Thus, this album is a must for Heep fans. But I can also recommend that all other fully, which may be inspired to classic hard rock with Hammond organ.

In this respect, I have grown old together with the band. Because I've seen it countless times live. Even with John Lawton. In the Byron-era unfortunately I was still too young. The concerts were usually inaccessible from the distance her. And money? I also had none ... I have experienced in the current occupation Most of the concerts. For the first time in 1991 at the Capitol in Hannover ... And that's about damn long 'ago ...

Regardless of today's "Koko-Day" ...
