After I had done pretty frustrated all possible setting on my Philips TV HDMI port with an attached iPad (via HDMI cable) and saw no rendered image / video on the TV screen, I have my iPad (already connected to the TV with HDMI cable) simply - and turned back on - then it worked!

Perhaps obviously for Techies - but I'm happy with the purchase and wanted to pass on these remarks.
