The sound of the CD is warm (a little tube sound patina ...) and transparent with huge stereophonic width; the saxophone - which is placed on a channel - is captured sound pleasant. Only the piano sounds partly like an electric piano - a common phenomenon of recordings from this period.
The well represented alternative versions on the CD differ quite striking by the other mix. The saxophone sticks here no longer present on a stereo channel, but is centrally placed with some distance and it results in a better spatial impression (the more today's recording practices equivalent).
