This plate I use for the cheese fondue that I prepare in a ceramic vessel. Since this is not suitable for induction, and heated to center me the flame of a fuel-driven Rechauds, I use the solution with the ignition coil. The design is not great, but still bearable. An acrid smell by coating no longer occurs after frequent use at now. The plate can be controlled quite well, you have to find the right attitude. You get the time out, will burn in the future no more cheese. Maybe a bit lacking in style - but practical.
