-Bedienbarkeit The input panel:
Nearly all settings and functions can be working directly with the intuitive box.
So I can when scanning between duplex / simplex, choose color / monochrome, make some quality adjustments and determine the destination of the scan:
email attachment, Forward to PC, USB flash drive or memory card. Collection either from the ADF or Flatbed.
What can adjust on the panel is not scanning, for example, is the exposure. So far, the well was not necessary.
When copying via the panel has similar settings as when scanning.
Duplex / simplex, color / monochrome, zoom, contrast, X 1 - copies etc. The catchment source is also ADF or flatbed possible here.
Faxing is easy. Source Select (there is a document in the ADF, the Canon recognizes that automatically), color / monochrome, enter the number or select 100möglichen shortcodes, finished. Fax reports can be printed directly via the panel
All maintenance tools can also be activated via the panel
-Schnelligkeit And quality of prints
So far I have mainly printed text documents and line art (function graphs etc.) and am equally impressed by the speed and quality of the prints. As a medium I use normal paper or 80g, printable overhead transparencies.
In the latter, there is no problem of smears and the color fastness is also given.
The quality of photo printing, I could not vote yet, but I'm sure not in this point be disappointed.
- Comprehensive software
The driver installation (Windows 7, 64 bit) worked smoothly, I have installed just once with all features. The choice of tools is designed reasonable and fulfills all tasks that are just to cope with a 4in1 device. Faxing using the supplied fax driver for example is playing possible from any application.
Otherwise, you will be provided with the usual features:
Quality, resolution, layout, color corrections when scanning and printing, maintenance tools, level, .. standard precisely.
As a small but smart note, I would like to add in capital letters:
PRINTER running under Ubuntu 10.04, Ubuntu 10.10 and Ubuntu 11.04 (probably on many other Linux distributions, but these are the 3 Ubuntu versions that I could test) outstanding and fully, but I had the InstallScript of downloadable on the Canon side Linux driver (install. sh) modify at 3 points. Instructions there on relevant pages or Ubuntu with me: D
Terminal via LAN / WLAN:
My home office is set up a bit unusual, so that the printer is located in a position where I had to create a possibly Necessary USB cable across the room to connect it to the PC. Per WLAN simply remains flexible and also when they move there is no cable clutter.
Moreover, can family members / roommate etc. to access the printer, without complex configuration release etc.
Negative points are so far:
-Klavierlack: Attracts dust
-Patronenpreise (Still have the supplied original cartridges in use and have me vorrätlich compatible cartridges without a chip! Bought (20, 20 euros). Once a Chipresetter is available, I'll test it and report here report whether you + with compatible cartridges reset ended chip can achieve useful results Print
All in all, I feel the Canon PIXMA MX885 to be quite the best buy I've made lately and do not regret a penny of the 183 invested Uronen.
