Since my old TN monitor so slowly but surely give up the ghost after more than 6 years, I needed a new monitor. The LG low arisen in cybermonday, connected upon receipt and just loved it. Sharpness, color quality and viewing angle .. just about everything was better compared to the old TN panel worlds. The switching times are absolutely justifiable, what the introduction of IPS panels certainly was still a problem, compared with the fast TN panels. The modern IPS panels are here, however, with the 60 Hz TN panels now at a stage where only the faster 120Hz + panels are noticeably better.
The Halos, who responded also Vorrezensenten already, although I have seen, but in the initial euphoria occurred to me that does not adversely affect. Technically these arise not by faulty equipment or a manufacturing defect, but at this point sits easily adjust the backlight (also on the right side and the top, but there less pronounced than at the bottom left). Depending on the quality of the equipment this backlight is clearly or less clearly visible, and if the test of LG IPS displays look at, then have just about all on the ground in these places halos on, regardless of the manufacturer.
In everyday work, these halos were never a problem, noticeable but not disturbing, they were only at the darker games in their free time. However you look at films Monitor, the halos increase of striking too distracting. Since I wanted to operate the Fire TV Box on the monitor and often films look at the PC, I have finally decided to send the monitor back.
But I would again stress that for most ordinary usage scenarios of a PC screen (watching movies most people now times on a television on) the halos absolutely not disturb and are often not even visible. Only graphic designers or users working in color-critical areas with dark images, will have any complaints here, and this user group are usually already considerably more for a screen, and for good reason. In office life, the screen makes otherwise a good figure, the ergonomics are very good, even the ability to pivot operation (rotated 90 °) exists. Sharpness and viewing angles are excellent, just as brightness and contrast. An additional reader mode, in which the blue components of the image are reduced, easy on the eyes when reading long texts, which is further enhanced by the flickering backlight.
Conclusion:
In office life a strong buy recommendation (here would even 5 star) justified, unless you work in the graphics area. There, the halos are annoying and in the end would be 1 star too much. To good use in the private sector for games, but for frequent watching movies less, what then explains the overall rating of 4 stars. Depending Anwedungsgebiet so a good to bad screen.
