I had never read Jane Austen before this release, and my first reaction when the release of this first volume was to wonder what Jane Austen was done in the Library of the Pleiades. Influenced by poor film adaptations, I thought a writer of sentimental affectations uninteresting. A kind of luxury Harlequin ... Still, I bought this book and started with the first novel, Northanger Abbey. And I've changed my mind. This novel is bright, light, witty, fun to read, a very young and modern taste; it reconstitutes a very clever way of England, the city of Bath, with there two centuries. We believe it. The satire of Gothic novels is hilarious. And now, after reading this first volume, I look forward to the second.
