"Spider's Web" is certainly a highlight on Katie Melua's second album "Piece by Piece", and also one of the most radio-ready songs. Both versions are great and differ only marginally, and I do not know whether the here named as "Album Remix" version of the album version corresponds. Anyway, it would have been nice not to pack a live recording this because Katie plays the song live even much more rock. "Cry Baby Cry" is the way a Lennon / McCartney composition from 1968, recording contained herein was played were "unplugged" for BBC Radio 2, just vocals and acoustic guitar. However, it is a rather inconspicuous Beatles song, and the Katie Melua version is not outstanding. Since I found "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" (on the "It's Only Pain 'single) interesting.
The video is very nice, although I do not really like it when you combine live concert pictures with studio music. Here you have the concert pictures but as far as that alienated me not too much bother (black and white, only Katie's guitar is colored bright red, beautiful background design). About the usefulness of video clips in poor resolution on Maxi CDs I would not like to leave at this point, which seems to be nowadays just called.
Too bad, as with all Katie Melua singles that so little material (audio only ten and a half minutes) is included.
Conclusion: Because of an alternative version of "Spider's Web" and the "new" song "Cry Baby Cry", the MCD is also worthwhile if you have the album already. But only for collectors and completists.
