Kylie's "comeback"

Lightyears (Audio CD)

Customer Review

"Light Years" is Kylie's debut their new label Parlophone / EMI. And indeed, it is light years away from their last album. Indie Kylie has become the Disco Kylie, even if their last two albums were very dance-heavy. The first single "Spinning Around" was then also another British No.1! The song reminds partly in style to some of Kylie's pop past with which they had actually been completed. But it eventually wants to earn money and the text, among other things, written by Paula Abdul, finally Fit Kylie's eternal way Hergerissenheit. After listening to the first single, I was very skeptical, but my concerns were ultimately unfounded, because this time it is not a fatal step backwards, but again a kind of experiment in a different direction. Strong support was the 1.52 m small singer from soul mate Robbie Williams and his songwriting partner Guy Chambers. The pieces of this collaboration are wonderfully cheesy and have these 70ies touch that also Robbies pieces. "The Love Boat" is then also one of the best songs on the CD and the famous "Your Disco Needs You" is very reminiscent of "YMCA" by the Village People. Of course, the Kylie / Robbie duet "Kids" is not missing. Then we have "Koocachoo", "I'm so high" and "Under the influence" that are unique summer songs in 70s style and also the highlights of the album. "Lightyears" then is more reminiscent of a Faithless number, "On A Night Like This" and "Butterfly" are dance songs, "Bittersweet goodbye" a rather mediocre ballad (music weak point) and "Please stay," and "So now goodbye "cheerful Poptracks. The Disco Feeling is, once again sparked in "Disco Down", an ajar to ABBA song. This plate is top cheesy, but great because it just brings up the rear of fun from the front and is never boring. They should hang up the match before each disco gear, even if they will not play a hundred times in the evening well.
