Leaded by software to pick up (tested on android JB)

I will temper the enthusiasm of my friends through a quite severe rating - at this price level we can be (I wanted to average but this is not possible, so 2 for stopping the average, too high to my taste).
I'll just talk about the speaker itself, or so quickly because the problem is not her, it's the software.

- The good (without being exceptional either, but no big default)
- Appearance: very nice this aspect can (which is about 2 hands high)
- Ergonomics: fairly quickly understand the usefulness of buttons without the need to read the documentation. And not need the app to start playing, there are a lot of buttons accessible directly.
- No carrying pouch as other brand models: damage
- Seems to be very long charging (announced for ten hours?). A test with the lights fully

The software:

Where to start without sénerver ... or rather as if sénerver on.
Why I feel since the arrival of smartphones to be returned to the early days of computing?
And yet, it seems in its infancy, there was more enthusiasm and less foutage of mouth.

Let me explain.
When installing the software JBL (android therefore view), we say that we will have more options in front, we will be able to configure everything, juggle effects / color / playlist. Finally exceptional.
Well it's not really that. Let the points that annoy.

1 / Fluidity and very poor ergonomics software:

When you launch the app JBL, you will understand quickly (even if the icons do not clear) that your possibilities are: (a) = ds to the music part (choose his songs) or (b) = play the effects of pulse.
But you can not do two at the same time: if you go directly into the pulse menu to change effects / lights, then you can not choose your music from there. Just play with the effects without music.
Ok, we return to the menu (a) and selects one or more pieces: go.
Except that when you leave in the pulse, test 1 or 2 effect, and you want to switch to another song, you have to start again on the menu (a), which is quite tedious, given following:

Oh, I have not told you. Already I feel a lag every time I turn on a button (which I often click again because I feel that it is not past, which is sometimes the case, or not it's just that the software is particularly slow)
And above all, after choosing your / your song (s) when you head to the menu (b) to play with the lights of the pulse, you realize that the pulse is no longer recognized (its icon no longer appears )
so we expect he returns ... oh 1..2..3..4..5
Yes, even if you have paired, even if you walk into the software for 5 10 or 20 minutes each time you pass by the "home" (obliged between the choice of songs and choice of effects) and although the pulse no longer appears. Then reappears after 4-5 seconds, allowing you to finally enter its menu.
If you use external software to this one to play your music (which will certainly be better damn, see below), you will experience the same ordeal: laborious navigation between part musical choice and choice of light, with waiting 4-5 seconds each time to see appear the pulse menu. Exciting.

- The JBL software: choice of songs:

* No option to choose to read a file (only moceau, album, genre, author, playlist)
* No possibility to increase or decrease the sound directly in touch when you're on the track
Oh yes, I see the little icon at the bottom right is for. Usually on any music / video playback software, if the sound screaming, panicking is resting on the screen and the sound of the cursor is highlighted. Here it will do with an extra button (to access to the adjustment of sound box) and latency that goes with it (we will be more quick to jump on the speaker or his phone volume buttons). OK there is worse and worse but why change things that work?
* No possibility to move forward or backward in the song Oh ... still ...
* No button next song: most minimal, it does not. Ah if I can drag the icons to the right to change pieces, but I do not know how, because there are some icons reminiscent highlighted as an icon = 1morceau (why not name if this is the case? ), but not possible to select them (click short or long double). While dragging up or down that kind of list, it seems we get to change songs. Once on 2. And I'll never really know which way (if at least the name of the next song or previous ... was indicated)
Try to picture the thing with latency for each test, it's just unbearable (while a simple button to change the song ... in short)
* And then when you are playing a song, you want to return to the choice of pieces to take another (one that would be in the same folder or the same author, or in the same album ...): You so click on the piece, and you revoila in the beginning of the list (by choice song, artist, album ...). No damn short to give you the position you just leave, you need sailing again from zero.

In short, you guessed it: via your usual software to play your music, it will be 10 times better, and you will anyway the same latency to access the menu of the pulse regardless of the playback software used
Oh, and keep it as permanently occupied or cut Desktop saver: If your screen is cut because you are left without use regulatory, time, pulse the menu disappears again ... still waiting 5 seconds .. .

- The JBL software: choice of lighting effects

* This is really weird things going on: There are 10 light effects, but you can select only five at a time.
Too bad, I guess that's an internal memory of history of the enclosure.
In efet, once selected your 5 effects, they will be clearly recorded in the enclosure and you have access directly to it via the icon "lamp" that allows you to change the effect.

No top 5 effects to choose its almost blind: an animated gif shows what it looks like but to really see the possibilities, go into the menu adequate. So before choosing. And returning to choose 5 other then to see what we can do with it. Then decide and choose 5 that will be used most often (we will not spend time navigating menus)

* The Light menu editor, used to apply effects on the 5 selected, allows you to change: color, intensity, and speed ....
AH !!! THERE ARE ONLY 2 EFFECTS THAT MOVE WITH MUSIC !!! (Equalizer and club)
The rest, well ... it moves alone. So you can adjust 3 different speeds.
If it's not disappointing ... hope that the software is not finished and will be improved.
And it will also really choose its colors, not just one that does not change or more that you did not choose.

* Overall, we quickly made the rounds of choices offered and it's pretty disappointing.
So do not imagine that you will choose 3 color and your effect will dig it. No this is only one color, or else a multicolor mode you decide nothing, and sometimes combines several colors (always the same and never change), or more colors that change with time.
For intensity: try to settle the mini, sometimes it can give (cf the robot effect)

So I quickly made the rounds of all the possible effects, even though the menus are doing everything to slow me down, and since I can not easily test each effect with a different song, I'm a little on my hunger.
At the same time, now I know that, apart from two effects, the piece does not affect the lights :(

CONCLUSION:
====================

- The speaker is not bad at her, but if you are limited budget, you may find the same quality for less money without the lights. And if you are fussy about sound, it probably does it better also in this price range without the lights (I guess, to see)

- I like the design of the enclosure and all the material part is well thought out. No complaints.
Fortunately, we found almost everything needed on the enclosure: on / off button, bluetooth sync, its +/- buttons, choose the effect / color / intensity (not the speed of the effect)
And ability to cut light without cutting the enclosure. Two positions are variety.
It looks solid but I'll try to find him a padded pouch for transport ..

- The software is highly disappointing, thought and programmed with the feet, as is usually the case on smartphone without it never seems to bother anyone. One can imagine that some problems come from my phone (a galaxy note 1) or a sloppy porting from apple, but in any case it can justify latency problems, but certainly not the questionable ergonomics and not finished side / developed snatches.

- Very big disappointment past due "whaou" not so much possibility that, and just 2 effects that vary depending on the music.

Purchase so think given the price.
As for me, this speaker will make its enclosure office (easy to connect blutooth jack or cable not supplied), with and without lights, but it is unlikely that I ever re-enters the software.
A priori dailleurs now that I chose my 5 effects, I can change almost everything right on the enclosure (except the speed of scrolling)
