Customer Review

"We come from the land of the ice and snow, from the midnight sun where the hot springs blow..." texteten Plant / Patrick in the introductory "Immigrant Song" with reference to the Iceland tour in 1970 and the album appeared to the two predecessors to connect. In the course with "Hammer of the Gods will drive our ships to new land" but the direction has been set and many fans believed rather that the band of his senses had been abandoned.

After "II" had first reached the top spot of the LP charts, the anticipation of "III" was naturally very great. Contrary to many expectations but was entered musical new land, which was reflected also in the cover design. While "I" and had "II" references to the Zeppelin, was the cover of "III" a colorful collage in Pop Art. The content was almost continuously folk-rock, though the entry had signaled otherwise. I had initially also the fear that it could still meet John Entwistle's prophecy of the "lead zeppelin".

Page and Plant had actually retreated to the solitude of the Welsh frontier and grow Bron-yr-aur for relaxation, but designed in this holiday line of "III". This came at a time when they are very strong (and even wanted to Marin County, CA, move) for Joni Mitchell, the Laurel Canyon scene, CA, interested, what influenced their decision for Wales. It meant that even traditional British folk was involved and the back of the LP was so audibly that it terrified the fans (and the previous critic felt naturally confirmed).

Many fans and other listeners took years / decades to grasp the meaning of "III" as a quantum leap the band development; Very few realized it sooner. Nevertheless, "III" should continue to fuel the most controversial views, but can not argue about tastes known.

By comparison, construction: LP US original pressing 1970 (mint), 2 x LP 180g and CD Remastered Deluxe Edition 2014 CD 1994 2 x LP and CD "Remasters" 1990. Old Equipment (DUAL 1219 REVOX B 795, McIntosh C 8 / MC 30 and SONY TA-1130 on BOSE 901-1, BROWN L 710 and 72er Klipschorn) and current (T + A pre and power amps, LP & CD player at T + A Solitaire, B & M Line 30 and Klipschorn AK 5) ,

Comparison of Media: the best impression here as well, leaving the new LP to date equipment; Although different depending on the connected speakers, but always much warmer, comforting and airy than the new CD, which is worlds better than the 1994 and also known as the "Remasters" CD (where songs it exists). However, in all precision and space the CD is something cool while LP the band in a relaxing atmosphere can be in the house guest - especially in the acoustic parts.

Although the original LP on old investment returns in the 55+ group memories, but is objectively on current equipment as well (slightly) overwhelmed as the 2014er LP is unchallenged in the oldie-conditioning.

The second CD / LP: It includes interesting variants, however, are critical minds determined not agree milder - technically everything is top. The strong blue-heavy "Key to the Highway" is worth listening to as of me beloved "Since I've been loving you" in an alternative form.

Conclusion: In technically better quality did not exist previously Led Zeppelin III; the alleged breach of the band expansion is necessary to cope elsewhere - therefore strong buy recommendation for those who accept the "III".
