Light and shadow, but almost without alternative

The Pentax SMC DA 16-50 mm is undoubtedly a high-quality lens. The optical power, in particular the resolution is very neat. Unfortunately, however, it shows how many other objective, significant at short focal lengths barrel distortion.
Mechanically affects the lens very solid and high quality (here it is miles away from the set Objetiven) because nothing wobbles. The good seals are very helpful, not only against splash but also against dust.

Annoying is that the autofocus is enormous failure joyfully by SDM. After about 2.5 years of SDM-drive had also adopted by my lens. The repair is due with 200 no bargain.
If the SDM-drive works, but the autofocus is very quiet, fast and reliable.

Overall a very good and fast aperture Objetiv to which there is no serious alternative. The autofocus drive, however, should be revised. In addition, Pentax should also consider whether you could not spendieren select the cameras to choose between SDM and rods autofocus. So you could mitigate the autofocus problem at least.
