Now the lens itself:
the objective is massive and almost 700 grams are already a whole chunk of the small Fuji. When X-E2 has almost exclusively the lens in hand. The focus ring is running extremely soft and supple. The iris adjustment is click-less - thus suitable for video recording. But unlike, for example, to the SLR Magic lenses this ring is quite tight, does not have to be clamped firmly with a screw and moved not by itself (to me that is dear - have the SLR Magic always afraid to break the screw from). The indication of the light intensity here is T0.95 expressed in normal F-values it is a little brighter - so about f0.9.
Optical power:
At full aperture shows a significant vignetting - but that is not surprising in this light intensity. Me personally does not bother so special. The focus at the center is the exceptionally well with my copy - I have already possessed several fast lenses in the range of f = 1.2 down to f = 0.95er and think that this is at the upper limit of the image quality. At the edges of the image quality can but something is for me still sufficient.
Bokeh:
The Bokeh of this lens is soft and excellent (at least in my opinion - is a matter of taste). The blur circles are clean and filled - no onion rings as produce most modern lenses with aspherical (do not know if the * the * is basic - but always strikes me with the new, high (above) corrected lenses, and usually have aspheres in it ). The image edges toward the fringes blur circles outside a little under the influence of Comas and be something shaped cat eyes. Overall, we see the coma errors during nighttime shooting point light sources at the edges - but that's not übermäsig flashy, not noticeable as with many of these lenses.
Conclusion:
I do not regret the purchase and use this lens very happy.
Alternatives:
- Voigtlander 35 / 1.2 Apsh II: beautifully finished, very difficult, Leica bayonet - so you need an adapter, my Exememplar was open not as sharp as the Mitakon
- SLR Magic 35 / T0.95: a little longer and heavier than the Mitakon, the rings are suitable for follow-focus (look like gears). I have myself had ncht and can not say much for the quality. But I like the iris adjustment to the lenses not (own the 50 / 0.95)
