At that time it was my first double live LP. I have eaten it, then not heard for 10 years and now re-experienced as double live CD a few years back. Only now I realize what has set a milestone for the band in 1984. Atmosphere, interaction and arrangements, take a breath. I got to know songs like "Once Upon a Time" and "Sultans of Swing" on this plate and wondered later how to ever fit into the traditional four and a half minutes. Mark Knopfler's guitar playing is self-contained and vituos by his fingerpicking. Particularly impressed me though have not soloing, but be dealing with the acoustic guitar and dobro in songs like "Romeo and Juliet", "Love Over Gold" or "Private Investigations". Furthermore, you can listen to this recording, as tasteful keyboards can be used. Guitars and keyboards complement each other perfectly with the rest of the band. A real live experience. Gladly part with headphones.
