Living Things

I want to be tantamount to the subject without further delay. The fifth studio album starts with the title 'Lost in the Echo ". The song begins with an electronic introduction, shortly after vigorous drums are added which are supported by guitars. In following Mike's rapeseed alternate with vocal passages from Chesters. The song boasts evocative melody, which forms a powerful song in conjunction with drums and guitars 4/5
'In my Remains' is again initiated by an electronic melody which is accompanied throughout by deep drums, in chorus join here again to guitars. Rappassagen can be found in this song is not, which one does not even missed. Instead, it waits song interspersed with calmer passages on which alternate with powerful passages. The song convinces overall by Linkin Park typical, catchy melody 4/5
'Burn it down' as the first single from the album is expected to be known. Right here the electronic melody and simply held but clear and well-fitting Drums are characteristic. The chorus then rejoin to guitars, so here the song significantly to its hardening. In the further course there is a shorter but very good matching Rappassage, which gives the song the necessary variety. 4/5
'Lies Greed Misery' then clearly differs from the previous songs. The song will be supported by a more clearly than before striking electronic melody, which is again backed by drums. The majority of the songs is characterized by longer Rappassagen which is interrupted by a short geshouteten Chester Rafrain. It is here to hitherto by far härtetsten song on the album, however, as it was in a different way 'hard' in the first albums still common. Hardness is not just achieved through guitar riffs but by electronics. 3/5
'I'll be Gone' aims then again more in the direction of the first three songs. Guitars, drums dominate the picture, the electronic elements fall here so little on than any other song on the album. Again, Linkin Park typical elements found again, the melody confident here, as in the first 3 songs again. In principle, one could describe as the song hard unusual ballad which had also very good fit on Minutes to Midnight.
In 'Castle of Glass' is it then to break in the gallery. The guitars are now limited down to the essentials' it comes to change of style in the gallery. The absolutely beautiful melody is clearly supported by electronics and drums. The Linkin Park typical element goes here but now a bit lost, despite interplay between Mike and Chester. Which, however, is marked here by singing of two Page 3/5
'Victimized' is then probably the heaviest song on the album. However, I have always felt that the hardness is set up and enforced, and not intuitive arises as in the earlier albums and this also sounds appropriately and not fake. Overriding element are the drums and Chesters Shouts, supported by electronics and guitars, Mike takes care of the singing at the beginning. After Chesters Shout passage he gets then again the opportunity to bring a rap with. 3/5
'Roads untraveled', however, is a quiet song, sung by Mike, who is accompanied by a piano. Later in Chester also comes to the train and then get in the chorus again and background guitars used. Overall a nice song but the certain something is missing, he also differs from the first half of the album. 2.5 / 5
'Skin to Bone' sounds very electronic, the break that started at 'Castle of Glass' is taken up and continued. The song comes from the style 'A Thousand Suns' relatively close. Typical Linkin Park sound from the first three albums (I am referring not half in style (had which is already changed in the course of the first 3 albums) but simply the elements that Linkin Park were sound exceptionally repeatedly that Linkin Park has always distinguished from other bands and therefore their sound defined) of available even at the beginning of the album is one misses painfully.
'Until it Braks' is accompanied by long Rappassagen defined by electronic counterpart beats and is indicative of the second half of the album, in a way. Only occasionally flash the 'Linkin Park elements' on. Ultimately, a song which can not shine with a catchy melody, appropriate hardness yet evocative vocals. 2/5
'Tinfoil' is more of an interlude as on 'A Thousand Suns' as the instrumental song 'Cure for the Itch' or 'sessions'. The purpose of Interludes fulfills it without shine here.
'Powerless' is then the last song and then a quiet and atmospheric song. Chesters singing accompanied by a piano are the key elements. Clever Drums used match the mood and later also the guitars are a last unpacked. 3.5 / 5

Finally, I would note that the album clearly distinguishes the front first 2/3 Albem. One can certainly not the style assigned to the Nu Metal, overall it is difficult to put the style in a category. Unlike 'A Thousand Suns' sound the plate but mostly by Linkin Park. Ultimately, to me personally missing, however, the guitar riffs and the hardness of the first albums, but that may each judge for themselves. Therefore sorted themselves 'Living Things' to 'Hybrid Theory', 'Meteora' and 'Minutes to Midnight' and before 'A Thousand Suns' fourth place a.
