Looking for associations ...

Gameplay:
The playing style of Dixit is basically a pictorial form of "Nobody's Perfect". All players will receive 5 large maps on which each ambiguous, difficult to interpret character images are displayed. Now begins Player A by chooses an image and an association on this image and sets the other tells. This association can be anything: a single word, a quote, a Song, whatever. Now select the other players out of their playing cards, select the one that fits best to the said association. All cards are now mixed and designed by Player A. Now the player must figure out (except for Player A, who knows the right card yes), which card is Player A (the card with the "true" association). Points are now for those players who guess the correct card for player A if someone taps on his card as well as the players, on their map the others have incorrectly set. But there's a catch: If the Association of Players A to clear (and all guess right) or too complicated (and all guess wrong) Player A goes away empty-handed and others receive points. This is followed by Player B ...

Criticism:
The decisive element in Dixit are the 84 motif cards. And these are simply designed charming and eloquent. For each picture, countless associations are indivduell possible so that a long-term fun is entirely given, although the cards deplete natural after a while quite something. Nevertheless, the player must avoid "ausgelutschte" associations, since it does not receive any points if all players guess this immediately. So the game avoids by clever repetition rules and forces players (the same hand) to ever new combinations of ideas, while also addressing the difficulty increases progressively. Who after a while but can not see the maps, can now set expansion cards. The most fun Dixit makes up with 5-6 players, as there are sufficient cards can then be interpreted (with 3 players, for example, each player 2 cards interpret). Sticking point is especially neither too easy nor too difficult to make his associations, so that a certain knowledge of human nature of the players is helpful here.

Conclusion: Although Dixit closely follows "Nobody's perfect" and the game world is not revolutionizing it, the gameplay still knows to convince. The 84 cards are lovingly decorated and allow a lot of pleasure from this rightly called "Game of the Year 2010" excellent association game.
