The hard drive is very quiet, only a slight vibration transmits to the desktop, which can be almost completely reduced by appropriate documentation (it even reaches already a piece of paper towel or, for example, an air-cushioned envelope underneath). The hard drive consumes (energy monitor measured) during normal operation and to spin down just 2.7 watts from 6.7 to 9.9 watts.
Speaking spin down ... the only criticism is that the hard drive shuts down permanently (after 2min inactivity.) - This period is much too short and it seems no way to pass it to change (partially reported that this product through cabinet electronics is caused because the naked developed from the housing SATA hard disk this behavior is not (more) shows. firmware update brings so probably no improvement. In [...] describes how to prevent by means of a small batch file to spin down can by cyclically after 110 seconds, the Directory of HD will be read from from computer tip from me:. CrystalDiskInfo Portable download, install and run it; under Options / Auto Update. "1min" Select has the same effect (and still has the advantage of being constantly over all parameters incl. temperature of HD is informed.
For temperature (was here already mentioned desöfteren):
For me, the plate heated by prolonged copying activity at 48 ° C and at rest, the temperature is a constant 44 ° C. Even my USB HD Toshiba heats up under load at 48 ° C with their excellent heat dissipation wg. Aluminum housing and 5900rpm instead of 7200RPM Intenso. These values were taken 5.2.1 CrystalDiskInfo!
When transferring large Datenmengan (File sizes averaging ~ 1GB) were TeraCopy amazingly, when writing (approximately 30MB / s) even better results than in reading (approximately 26MB / s) to a dual core laptop with Win7 on USB 2.0 (a 3-port I have not!). Compared with several other USB hard drives, these are very good values!

Even with smaller files (10 pieces each with 1 Mbyte) writes the Intenso HD faster than they read.
Result:
Write time: 0.036 sec.
27.7777777777778 MByte / s
Reading time: 0.0467 sec.

Only the also mentioned "chirping" of the HD drops and on, does not sound very good and pleasant to (similar to a dentist-noise ..?!), But remains to be seen as any other hard disk bisweile the read heads move cyclically and thereby inevitably step noise.
