On the other hand this is due to the fact that I bought this CD blindly and have unfortunately not belong before. Because after the first insert the disc (CD SPV 308232 Made in Germany - that is an original!) In my CD player, the disappointment was great: What a lousy sound and what a modest mix !!! I could not even believe it, am immediately to stereo to my wife, the CD had belonged there. With the same result. Then I have the hammer two slices Devil`s Canyon and Silent Reign of Heroes put into it and played through - what a difference (which is not saying that these two discs regarding sound the measure of all things.)!
Now I've started to do research in various international reviews on the Internet concerning. The sound quality of this CD and am just stumbled on this tragedy with Somer Thompson, what has touched me quite frankly. More on that later. But back to the problem mentioned, however, that the mix of this disc is so mau Almost nowhere in the countless reviews in IN is. Why not? And why here not explicitly (only slightly indicated, rather between the lines) in this forum? I have no explanation for this. If it really should be on my stereo equipment and I should have erwoben unimpaired original, let me know please. So I ask the question: Must one today really still accept a poor sound quality and what SPV actually thinks in such a publication (in the booklet is written: As we have Entered into a New Age or recording for the band we are breaking new Ground as Molly Hatchet and with our friends at SPV we are proud to have recorded Justice.)? To provide `s equal right, I do not have a cheap hi-fi equipment, quite the contrary.
Obviously, this CD was deliberately added to analog technology and then transferred accordingly to generate a warm rock sound that is reminiscent of the 80s, but that's gone quite in the pants in my opinion. All too centered and tuned bass-heavy, too undifferentiated, the song depends on some pretty pieces in the air and sometimes can barely stand the guitar and piano / Orgelbrei. One would somehow like the filter, the sticks on the (partially really good) music tracks, remove, but unfortunately that does not work ...
That is why I voted the way these headline to mention that at this point at least once a concrete!
Now briefly to the content of the CD itself:
Criticism of the mournful ballad Fly on Wings of Angels this song is ruled out for me in view of the background all by itself, no matter how cheesy the result may be failed. I like this sad song by the way very well. No ifs and buts. I also think it's a good idea Somer`s sister in the song involve (Intro Your`e my sunshine ...). I recommend everyone beforehand to view the youtube video The Somer Thompson story and then listen to the song on CD.
Been to Heaven - Been to Hell makes at the beginning of a lot of power and might be to use also as an opener in the live concert, the 2nd song Safe in my skin is not really bad. The 3rd song Deepwater is - apart from the comical synth intro - my out tip of the first third. The catchy! Track 04 is OK, but not one of my favorites. Track 05 Gonna Live til I die is a super Southern rock song and a first highlight of this CD (except for the stupid text times - who comes only to so`ne idea?).
Track 06 is the aforementioned ballad (Somer`s Song creeps is announced), the follow-Song 07 As Heaven is forever continues as a modern ballad piece, but here you will not shake the feeling that you when composing perhaps short time to the radio thought. Counts at least not to my favorites. Track 08 Tomorrows and Forever is quite a tricky song - for me neither fish nor fowl. The reef itself is class, but unfortunately the song does not stop by.
It does not matter, because the next 3 songs are again top: 09 Vengeance goes from full, will be played live determines, interfere only slightly the superfluous synth intro (as with Deep Water), which you also had the same may be omitted. In the darkness ot the light (10) starts with a beautiful piano intro and a catchy riff, but unfortunately no proper dynamics unfold over the whole song away. Justice (Track 11) is for me the best song of the CD, and linked to, for example, at the Hammer songs of previous discs Saddle Tramp, The Journey or Devil`s Canyon. The end of the song is reminiscent of Lynyrd Skynyrd, extended solo of two or more guitars. Tip!
Conclusion: Unfortunately, the sound quality to my mind is really bad, who about departed therefore see (or hear better) can who gets certainly a good to very good concept album of a group trying to orient themselves something new (the frequently used keyboards / synthesizers) and yet its roots to remain faithful. The album deserved to be 4 *, but because of poor sound quality I forgive only 2 *.
