Components:
We Galactica played on a board and very expansive deck. The Pappchips are not overly well-stamped, it takes a bit of tact and a lot of time to get everything without damage of the sheets. The board is equipped with some nice gimmicks that hunters models are made very beautiful and detailed. The game panel are provided with beveled corners Galacticatypisch (ie octagonal), maps, displays and markers are functional and very atmospheric, thereby virtually self-explanatory. So very good first impression.
The game manual is rather mixed. Basically, Battlestar Galactica is a self-explanatory game. Few real mechanisms and tables have to be explained, clarified and included a guide to ensure a smooth gaming. The manual contains in its fullness a large number of examples, explanations cards etc., the overall very contribute to the understanding of the game. Unfortunately, asked at the conclusion sided Quick Reference deserves to be called only conditionally. Frequent sheets is inevitable. For the whole thing is unstructured. And having to dig into 32 pages is awkward!
A clear structure in the kind of game summary-game mechanics game tables would (Table Appendix similar) come better in a structured form.
And then we go and it's the big guessing game begins. Originally we expected to play a kind of Camelot in Space. But because of! While in the Koopspiel Shadows over Camelot knows that there is a traitor, this is not the case with Galactica. It could give a. Or not. Or two. Who knows? And about halfway through the game still could happen one. Perhaps I myself? Who knows? Thus, the paranoid atmosphere is much denser and more oppressive. Basically you try long enough to survive until the Galactica has jumped far enough to reach Kobol. Who still remembers 33 minutes to the result, knows how hard can be survival ... ;-)
However, this kind of game is not for everyone. Those who like to have a clear game mechanics is hardly happy with Galactica. You have the paranoid communications in party game format already like ...
I'm just curious to see how this Who-who-fits rather loose system in the always gloomy and depressiveren series episodes. Or whether there will be an expansion in the dark countryside after the fourth season ...
Conclusion: For conspiracy theorists and Party player, the Dorado! For usually fetishists rather bleak.
