Magnum Opus of the Swans

Magnum Opus of the Swans

Seer [Vinyl] (Vinyl)

Customer Review

I have the reviewers The Ursel at one point disagree: Since I bought the album as a triple LP, I hear anything else; a disk is placed after the other, or even the same play again. "The Seer" is, once you've opened it, definitely an album for every day.

In all other respects I have to agree fully Ursel. This is by far the best album of the Swans, here flowing all the styles of their various eras together. For me, it has relegated to second place even "White Light ..." and "The Great Annihilator".

The title track is a real monster (on vinyl it spans two pages and is more digestible), and as a highlight lined up here to the next, it would be pointless to list them all. As Anspieltipps I would recommend "Avatar" or "A Piece of the Sky", or if it should be a little quieter, "Song for a Warrior" and "The Daughter Brings the Water". The only piece that Gira also had to omit here, is the noise collage "93 Ave. Blues".

After I had not impressed "My Father ..." (2010), which is an absolute milestone here. Only Neurosis achieve else this level of intensity.
