Customer Review

I have taken these two discs with very mixed reactions from the internal CD player.
I loved Chicago as a pioneering group of fusion of jazz and rock. These expectations operated rather the CD 2 (which to me the concept of not opening up to gather the title earlier in time lying on the 2nd plate); I write "more", because here the selection is strong ballad-heavy and contains many slow, lyrical pieces. After all, they come from the jazzy early phase of the band. Completely incomprehensible, I find that it is only in one of the biggest hits of the band, the music composed by Stevie Winwood I'm a - has added single release - shortened to 3 minutes. So lacking in the opulent drum solo and the wonderful musical transitions and beyond.
The other CD sparked in me simply verwundertes horror. What Chicago interssant for me, active, challenging made: driving bass playing, a rhythmic and solo alike working rhythm section, a punchy à la Pete Townshend (Who) and melodic played electric guitar, jazzy and lyrical horn sections - all that is missing. What remains is rather shallow, pleasing pop. Instead of bold and exciting for me as a listener steps into new musical territory I find meaningless cuddle music. The avant-garde that was Chicago time, has become complacent mainstream. Too Bad ...
Those like me who is more on the fusion of past Chicago, is the compilation Chicago: served much better Origimal Album Series.
