Share the review of my predecessor only partially. Have the HD2 had not bought at Amazon, but they've tested within 1 week and then sent back. I've filmed with a 1998-built Panasonic NV-SX30 (SVHS) camcorder. I have to say the images are more detailed than the HD2, despite the aged technology. The video resolution of the HD2's Pure much higher from the pixels ago. But if one takes surfaces (eg grass or pavement with relatively fine contours, then blur even at the highest resolution and in XP mode nor the subtleties to diffuse surfaces. The quality of low resolution (640 * 480) I find unacceptable. (Diffuse, artifacts, such as with a bad DIVX) I think that the MPEG4 compression was not optimally implemented, and therefore these effects occur. Even the image stabilizer leaves to be desired compared to my old camcorder very left. (In (slow) pans creates a very jerky impression.) If you want to keep the original sound of the video, and receives silent scenes, then you hear the autofocus to work.
The photos are absolutely fine. (Have been staying at a XACTI VPCJ1 in use and am still excited)
In terms of size and portability, you can say anything the camera. I would have maybe a few buttons for example, image stabilizer on / off, etc. desired because you can not work in the menu during filming and want.
If someone does not make special demands on the video quality, the HD2 is definitely recommendable. I have now bought the SDR-S150 Panasonic. Although this camcorder records only in MPEG2, but worthy of the name camcorder. The videos are much better despite the lower resolution. (Optical Image Stabilizer, 3CCD)
