Privateering (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Was thinking long whether I should write a review, but now I hear the album for the umpteenth time and you want to describe my impressions so. What I find in my view, truly remarkable is that Mark Knopfler with this album picks up styles he has barely touched in his solo career. His distinctive sound, his style of music but to hear from each track. Mark Knopfler now plays the blues. From the piece (CD 01-Track 03) "Do not forget your hat," for example, I hear John Lee Hooker from the period of the 50's, I have about 14 Hooker CDs from this period. We also hear Muddy Waters in one of the songs.

Mark Knopfler called his album (to German) "piracy". The "Privateers" or Blackie the Pirate, a seagoing age was plundered and robbed by or even is. Mark Knopfler said when asked why he named his new album so with the words "I want to be really connected to this small group (his band) of people I like to have the command -. About the band, the crew , - it travels through this ever-changing landscapes and alludes to all these different places you can get where you need to do without any kind of help, what they want is why you are a privateer That's the way I like it... . " Maybe he called it also so, because he has taken to borrowing from other styles. But from this he has done something very special. He gave the Blues their new face.

Possibly Mark Knopfler is in its artistically creative phase, he writes, the fingers to the bone. We, the followers of his anytime progressive music (folk, blues, country, rock), enjoy every single title of his new album. Mark Knopfler was coined from many directions (Irish / Celtic / Folk Scots), the American rock and roll and - as it now turns out - the American blues. He makes sure that he is not all throw into a pot, but he extracted all styles and brings talk a folk song, because sometimes a ballad here a country song and because sometimes a rock song or sometimes a bona fide Rythm'n ' Blues song.

The piracy or privateering is a clever, subtle, soulful and absolutely wonderful collection of new songs that he has recorded an album with a great band. And as always, Guy Fletcher - keyboards - going last band member of the Dire Straits.

2013 he came to Stuttgart because I'll have to be there. I have 2010 in Munich with my (then 9-year-old daughter) the concert in Munich saw the occasion of his album "Get Lucky".

Anyway, the music is more than "only" entertaining. Buy before other's do ;-) Keep rockin '
