dramatic title, I know, but what I found operating on the device for more than a year now takes the biscuit ground.
But even from the beginning:
I nutz (t) e what worked this unit as a "receiver" of my WLAN Bride, except for a few disconnections in very many connections, usually also impeccable. So far so good. However, as I again wanted to convert to cable, I disabled the Routermenu the Wireless function. The pilot light went out and the WiFi was not, I thought.
Due to a power failure and after a few modifications I checked again the settings of the router, on the other Bridge Router:
1. Wi-Fi lamp - check
2. Wi-Fi Routermenu from - check
-> WiFi from? Not at all!
The router creates all souls rest in a new network with the SSID name SolosW_AP and now it comes:
No matter what you have previously set in the router, the network is completely unsecured. Anyone can access it, will appear in the menu, however, continue to be disabled and the pilot light is out. Different firmwares also useless.
After further research on the internet, I'm not even alone with this security problem since, ie, the manufacturer knows about this "defect" decision, however, stirs (not adjustable supposedly) from
So to say, everyone has such a device, and the wireless network is no longer needed risked an unsecured Wi-Fi for the neighborhood (no valid control), with all (liable) consequences.
I may sound a little indignant, but with so much audacity and stupidity with all due respect the manufacturer can no longer react differently to.
My recommendation, the thing sends back to Amazon (if still possible).
Many Greetings
