Regarding the "Pastorale", so it is in my view another increase - a touch of program music, but not only the musical tracing a water glass as later composers have done so, but a separate piece of music and indeed one of the best ever - in any case for my taste. Herbert von Karajan interprets them - as in the late recordings usual - with very tempos research, resulting in the 3rd and 4th sentence to a dreamlike rendition. In particular, the sentence I find almost a little too fast in this recording - here would be less been back. Nevertheless, an excellent recording of the "Pastorale" and so far I have found no better - whether Kleiber, Abbado, Bernstein, Norrington, Sawallisch or Zinman.
So a great CD.
