In Keane came to my attention last year as tour support Starsailor - and have the same love with me to this beautiful, soul-stirring music. The sensational voice of singer Tom Chaplin is accompanied only by piano and drums - no guitar - but really missed you any second. The simple, clearly structured compositions, written by pianist Time Rice-Oakley are unfussy, go catchy and bewitch the soul. Choruses of a lifetime, texts with which everyone can identify. The band has been playing together for several years and can be the album on stage and very noticeable. Keane are absolute professionals - "Hopes and Fears" a carefully compiled album for eternity. Not a single failure, there is among the 11 titles for 6.7 flawless single hits that would take in a just world all the pole position of the charts in the world. Besides the well known singles "Somewhere only we know", which has fortunately also conquered the German Radio in Stum, "This is the Last Time" and "Everybody's Changing" are also "Can not Stop Now", "Bedshaped" and "Beds and breaks "absolute blockbuster, with slightly faster pace. The British music press has hailed Keane in 2004 at the beginning of the year as a newcomer - and indeed deserves. Models or parallels? Yes, you can call Coldplay, Travis might or Starsailor. But I go so far as to say that this band is even better than all the aforementioned and "Hopes and Fears" will be a milestone, Keane with difficulty ever can beat. For me now irrefutably Album of the Year and a changing of the guard in the area of melancholy, emotional pop.
