The Apple Years (Limited Edition) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

George Harrison's albums on Apple and EMI were in 1987 when they were first released on CD sound is not exactly brilliant. Wonderwall Music also benefited in this respect very fact that it was only in 1992 submitted on CD. (The experimental Electronic Sound may here be neglected, as it will lay barely more than once in the life of even the largest Harrison fans.) Even in the year he died published George Harrison All Things Must Pass remastered, was published in 2006. Living in the Material World remastered.

Wonderwall Music now includes three bonus tracks, In The First Place, Almost Shankara and an instrumental version of The Inner Light including studio atmosphere. All Things Must Pass offers the same track sequence as the remaster of 2001 and Living in the Material World is waiting next to the B side Miss O'Dell and Deep blue, unlike its predecessor, in addition to the first remastered version of Bangla Desh single on! At last there on Dark Horse, the single B-side I dont care anymore to hear also a delightful early take of Dark Horse. Instead of the single-edits of This Guitar (Can not keep from crying), it was decided on Extra Texture for Weird Platinum version as a bonus track, recorded in 1992 as a demo for Dave Stewart; later added the guitar and Ringo drums.

Five of the albums stuck wherever possible in the LPs modeled hinged covers including printed (if not fed) liners; Extra Texture comes even in corrugated albeit not punched! Pappcover. The CD prints themselves are modeled on the logos of the respective record labels. All six albums even Electronic Sound! be upgraded with beautiful booklet including song and accompanying texts by Beatles expert Kevin Howlett; nice but each song topics I me mine would still be, as in the Dark Horse Years Box, Georges been. Ironically for All Things Must Pass only the poster (including song lyrics in the back) unfortunately was reproduced; More information can be found in the accompanying booklet.

In All Things Must Pass and Living in the Material World treble over their predecessors have been slightly withdrawn, and although All Things Must Pass was in 2014 largely compressed less than in 2001, something was still but have been less desirable, it always falls yet louder than the other albums that were only where compressed here and there needed discreetly, so as since 2009/2010 other "Apple" also -Remasters (Lennon, McCartney, Mary Hopkin, Billy Preston, Badfinger, Doris Troy, etc.)

"The Concert for Bangla Desh" Although strictly speaking not a George Harrison solo album, but it was clearly Harrison's show, is as such with me beside his other albums on the shelf and had also been looking forward to this box. And a few more bonus tracks would it be allowed; numerous bootlegs point to a wider pool. The big plus of the current Remaster series is that finally the two missing albums Dark Horse and Extra Texture (Read All About It) remastered available. The richly illustrated book brings another text by Kevin Howlett. The bonus DVD drops 32 minutes rather thin, especially since most of material of bonus DVDs of 2001, 2005 and 2006 will be recycled; new are the Apple Years Feature (7:27) and especially the amusing, restored video clip for Ding dong ding dong. 10 years after second half of his solo career had been covered with the box The Dark Horse Years Harrison, the complete catalog of my favorite Beatle has finally tonally very satisfactory remastered available, and his Apple-albums are in this box summarizes much cheaper than individually purchased ,
