Optical performance:

+ The objective is to excel in sharpness hardly even at full aperture still good (at least in my copy)
+ As soon as chromatic aberration
- Dimmed not a nice bokeh, because you clearly can see the five slats
Handling:

+ Very easy
+ At auseichendem light very accurate autofocus
- The autofocus is very noisy, rough and reacted very nervous
- Manual focusing is hardly possible
Quality
========
- Plastic bayonet
--- Lens hood is secured with heavy metal adapter ring on the inner focus !!! Absolute no-go !!!
Note
=========
My copy has endured no 4 weeks and then was in two parts in the camera bag (two tiny broken plastic nipple).
1. Warranty repairs allegedly at Canon was faulty (still two parts). 2 Warranty repair after successful appeal (lens as new)
Conclusion:
======
I'm going to 1.4er USM change in the hope that the mechanism is better. With the Canon USMs I have had good experiences, even in bad light.
In any case, the lens hood is attached to the outer housing there.
