Better is always known, the worst enemy of good and so it is here. The new set of Concord Records is a stunner compared to the first edition and some recent revisions. CCR is one of the most important bands in rock history and so well known that I do not want to dwell on history. The seven LPs between June 1968 and April 1972, then all were successful and not only celebrated by the die-hard fans. The band also was among the first who engaged political and musically. Exemplary I want to mention only Fortunate Son, which I is not no senator's son, I is not no fortunate one. , , not just George W. Bush fits (e).
Who from the Generation 55+ does not remember the summer of 1969, when Bad Moon Rising ran around the clock in every jukebox and every radio station? And not only I have regretted that CCR did not authorize their appearance in Woodstock for publication. While you can certainly share the view of the tape that their performance at three, with all the technical and other problems certainly was not the best of her career, but interesting for the festival itself, it is already.
Over 40 years ago, they have been resolved and it is a good idea to bring all the plates in a rematch and also vinyl is an equally good idea. Compared to the original, the new sound a little clearer and based on John's voice quite well dirty, earthy. All this fits just fine for often heavy Southern music that these guys played fantastic from the west coast.
The provider has been some effort not the remasters of the original tapes; the 180-gram LPs stuck in cases that are nearly visually identical to the originals, All LPs come in a fairly stable cardboard sleeve with silver colored print on dark blue ground. How else I have all the plates on both old (DUAL 1219, REVOX B 795, tube amplifier McIntosh, 72er Klipschorn, BOSE 901-1) and current (eg T + A completely at B & M Line 30, T + A Solitaire and Klipschorn AK also 5) Equipment played; alternatively also with wired headphones. This edition not only scores against the originals, but also against various CD variations, each of which is inherent in a perceived acoustical cold.
. The price of 110.- incl VAT and delivery I think is justifiable; the one point I prefer the missed remaster from the music has earned at least five points. In the US this is set, which will only appear to the 11/11, announced in the region from $ 200.- incl. VAT.
But now back to the response of the mirror at the beginning. Just about everything that's here, so it is a spoiled, once you've heard the box-set with the same content from the company Analogue Productions from Salina, Kansas. Again, the original appearance was modeled as possible, to held in shades of brown cardboard sleeve enclosing there is a photo of the band. At 200-gram LPs each remastered recordings are pressed from the original analog tapes, the sound engineer Kevin Gray and Steve Hoffman refrain as far as possible, to change the music somehow. Since there is no more to Hall, no adjustment to today's listening preferences etc.
It remains as CCR have ultimately approved and the listening experience to date Equipment skin a totally off the stool. Clear and natural, while at the same powerfully earthy CCR has certainly never heard of and with closed eyes gives the impression that the guys sitting opposite in the living room.
Adding to this Absolute Original Disc Box Set are a LP with Good Golly Miss Molly, Penthouse Pauper plus Bad Moon Rising and Proud Mary in Wide stereo mix as well as a booklet with numerous photos and a few essays.
As well $ 300.- incl. VAT are very well laid out. So CCR fans: The local set is the series Ford Mustang V8 under the CCR LPs. But Analogue Productions has the ultimate Shelby GT 500 Super Snake with full equipment.
