Electronics / performance specifications
First of all, in contrast to the competition, the unspecified LED - would also be too much truth to the exaggerated information yet to make reasonably credible. Two brothers specifies the lamp with 200 lumens. The LED actually does about 170 lumens - 200 at best a purely theoretical value at overvoltage.
The 170, however, are to achieve, even then only if you pressed the lamp stops (Boost). And the lamp there are locks on "high performance" already good 25 lumens less. Furthermore, the lamp is not as some think poorly regulated, due to suspected chinesicher technology. The truth is rather that the lamp is not regulated. Ie. the first just 10 minutes is the power available and then bends quickly on a kanpp 75% of the power. This is then held for an hour, until it then drastically goes down to the basement. The P7 lights for hours, but are placed here by a candle in the shade. In the well 100min benefit phase so you can speak of just over 100 lumens that actually are at the highest level to disposal - thus about half of the specification.
The integral over the total amount of light emitted is equal to, let's say to a technologically superior Fenix (Incidentally, a purely Chinese products). Just bring a comparable Fenix halt in just under 2 hours constant 100% and then completely but to go out, while the P7 about 100min with 75% satisfied and then for hours weiterglimmt ever fainter.
Battery and battery change
The batteries (4xAAA) can be perfectly accommodated in the magazine. Very good and solid processed with high quality gold-plated contacts. No rattle while cycling and the screw cap is properly sealed against moisture and dust.
Flexible Focusierung
A feature of this LED lamp is heraushebendes the adjustable head for focusing the light. This can be moved continuously by simple thumb pressure. This results in either a narrow or a broad focus scattered light. Allerinds is to say to the beam pattern that it rings and "scharz holes" comes in already marginal opening of the light cone. This is called dan "Donughts". For applications that makes a uniform identification of structures required such as. Biking, this is highly undesirable because the human eye in this uneven beam has difficulty identify contrasts and obstacles. This feature is interesting but for applications that require a balanced lighting totally unsuitable. On the positive side, that the wheel mechanism is easy to use and once selected position is maintained even with strong shocks.
Outdoor use
As gaffe however is to evaluate the seal. Water, and I mean no diving operations, special simple splash finds its way through the seal of the sliding focus immediately to the LED and electronics. A few minutes later, the water is reflected then in the Fokusierscheibe down and affect the luminosity. For outdoor use, therefore unsuitable. Other manufacturers advertise at this point with "Waterproof to IPX-8 standard" so that we can grow the lamp safely for days under water.
Handling
The lamp fits comfortably in your hand and makes a very solid impression. Although one should not knock nails with it in the wall, but it's all made of solid metal and is very sturdy. Unfortunately, it has on its side not stop rolling. Even a crown on the head side are nowhere. Thus, one could the lamp upside down in order for example. Located underneath maps to illuminate.
Batteries
Nice that the P7 does not require special batteries, which in turn require a corresponding charging technology or in part are not rechargeable. The form factor of AAA can be obtained everywhere and quite inexpensive. Rechargeable NiMH also work. Although I think I can remember that Two Brothers advises against it or this even excludes. Better I would, however, still found AA because 2 of them usually do not have more power than 4 AAA and the parallel and an oval handle would have produced that no longer rolls over surfaces.
Cyclist
More and more cyclists to climb on "normal" LED hand lamps. The P7 can attach to the handlebar with a entsrepchenden adapter of Two Brothers. The adapter is very convenient because it allows you to insert and remove the bulb without using any tools. Although very convenient for the adapter is not less secure. The lights keep even with uneven driving bomb-proof in the adapter. The attachment is therefore to be commended highly. However, the lock positions for orientation of light on the adapter are unfortunately so grossly chosen such that it is almost impossible to take the middle of the path. The focus is then either left or right of way.
Due to the above-described Unzulänglichkeitne (water, "Donughts") I would take the lamp allenfals as a supplement.
Overheating
LED blank according significantly in performance if the temperature rises. But that the P7 has little problems. I've never noticed a significant increase in temperature on the head. Mag also be due to the weakness in the luminance in turn makes a positive impact here.
Light temperature:
The color temperature is measured in Kelvin. By 5000 degrees Kelvin is roughly equivalent to natural daylight. LEDs emit a light which is typically about 8000-9000 degrees Kelvin. The light is very cold, distorted colors and therefore more difficult for the human eye to recognize contrasts. Furthermore, you will find that light that temperature has the peculiarity to be very strongly reflected by water drops. So appear fog or snow at once like an impenetrable wall. Light with about 5000 degrees Kelvin seems as likely to pass. There are selected lamps employ special LED with a natural light temperature. The disadvantage here, however, that these lights slightly weaker and are more expensive - are then specifically advertised. The P7 uses a LED light high temperature and be reckoned with the characteristics described above, as in the rest of the vast LED models of the competition.
Conclusion:
I like the use of AAA batteries, the not usual for LED lamps Focusiermechnismus and a mechanically solid construction. Deficits in the specification are misleading and incomprehensible contact information on luminosity all too often. Missing digital regulation, a lack of splash protection and uneven illumination of Beam Patterns reduce the usefulness of the lamp significantly.
