And just the Scandinavians are flooding the jazz scene currently with beautiful music.
However, the "beat" of Tingvall has something that you missed in other CDs: It comes irrepressible joy. One notices in each piece that it was going to musicians to a message and not just about another 5 minutes to buy time on the CD.
The reason for this may be that the layout of the pieces from the melodic rather simple and by no means confused as usual in jazz. The Drive comes from the rhythm section: Here we are working feinzisliert and so the pieces get a certain lightness that you usually like missing time. Nevertheless, the melodies draw from clear and there are no major functional theoretical escapades.
Overall, an album has managed that tension and relaxation alike!
