OCTOPUS (Paperback)

Customer Review

Sixth novel by Jacques Saussey. I take sixth slap me and you know what ... I want more. No, I'm not masochistic but this author has, from the beginning I read his works, an incredible talent to put me in appalling conditions.

Four white roots had my preference. Until there ...

The octopus is a novel that I wandered for more than 500 pages. I knew Lisa for having followed in the other titles of Jacques Saussey and just like with the characters in the novels of Thilliez Franck (Franck Sharko and Lucie Hennebel), today I feel a lot of empathy for Lisa Heslin and Daniel Magne The two major cops in the bibliography of Jacques Saussey.

I know their weaknesses and strength. I love them to the point that you can not imagine from the time that I find them every year.

Yet the past Lisa was silent until then. Until there ...

Today, Jacques Saussey reveals a side of the existence of this young thirty cop to direct nature. Magne and Daniel did not really have a say. Until then, I knew that his father had died under mysterious conditions. He was investigating judge. And that's it. As for Lisa's mother, no idea who it could be.

Until there ...

Now I know. Now I feel so much for Lisa, Daniel, his fellow cop and lover.

The title is intriguing, and I never wanted to know in advance what that meant and I did well because, suddenly, the surprise was the size and the author skillfully lead his boat again Once.

Lisa's life will be shaken by the past that comes back with a bang. We will live this history with a juxtaposition of two periods lived on one side by Lisa and another by Daniel. The Lisa happens 15 days before D-Day and Daniel a short week before.

Suffice to say that I had a little trouble to get used to but gradually as I progressed, I could see perfectly the validity of this narrative construction. It would have been impossible otherwise to make this novel what it is: a real page-turner that one can not let go before the end.

I unfortunately could not read in one go for personal reasons but before I left for a few days, in just 48 hours, I had already read half. Suffice to say that the writing of Jacques Saussey and it serves us in his latest novel is purely addictive.

Until then I never thought the author can put as much undermined his characters. Until there ...

Whether Daniel, Lisa and their colleagues from the police, I would never have imagined that in this book, the end would make me so anxious, upset and angry with Jacques Saussey. I DO NOT WANT to this end. I do not want these losses. This is despicable even inhumane to the reader that I am, who appreciates all beings who followed Daniel and Lisa before. No but I hallucinated !!!!!

I assure you that I struggle to get over while I finished this book since Tuesday afternoon. Whenever I look back, I have the hair of arms bristle. I will come almost to hate the author for what makes me live.

Is it not the way you see the quality of a book, a writing? Because the reader has invested, he believed there from the beginning and it is undoubtedly attached to these characters he has known for a long time now?

Of course yes! And today, it is with sadness and great anxiety that I will wait and look forward to.

Anyway, for those who already know the author, please do not hesitate to take on this latest installment because it is most excellent. And for others, the latecomers, but what do you do? Come on ... From start by discovering sinister (because Daniel and Lisa are recurring characters and books that must be read in order to see their evolution) and chain on other books to reach The octopus that sure to put you in a miserable condition but that for anything we would not want to stop reading. Inevitably, you ask for more in the way I do every year for 5 years now.
