There are alternatives:
- Ultrabooks (Price range 1000 euros and more, so much more expensive)
- Notebooks (greater than 11.6 inches and thus heavier)
- 2in1 Tablets (usually 10-inch tablet with connector system to the keyboard and mostly Atom CPU)
- Convertible (screen can be folded down - not necessarily a full 360 degrees)
In these categories, there is then again a wide range of equipment (CPU, GraKa, RAM, etc.).
So why the Pavilion 11-n077ng?
It was a portable - looking device that provides enough power to provide desktop PC features on the move - so small, but not too small.
The netbook has a N3540 CPU !!! The latest generation of Intel 64-bit CPU (Bay Trail-M) has low power consumption, but delivers with 4 cores lots of power. It has an integrated graphics unit (card) that supports DirectX 11 !!!
To give an idea of the performance of the N3540: World of Warcraft (64-bit) running on the netbook easily and smoothly! The fan is not or only occasionally start. The resolution is natively!
I come to the speakers and the sound system in the netbook. There is an "Intel Inside" sticker to the right of the touchpad, which I removed. And there is a non-removable label on the 360-degree hinge "BeatsAudio". I thought that was very annoying at first glance, because it interfered with the optics. Have the gray (Graphite Grey ^^) version and the Tastaturabbdeckung is metallic gray. Send my favorite songs on the hard drive, the installed VLC player, provided the volume to 100% above the volume rocker and double-clicked a song. The sound was phenomenal. Point. The imprint "BeatsAudio" is therefore to specify. :-)
Among the other hardware features:
The display reacts instantaneously to input and shows visually by a "vacuum effect" where you type and wipes. The keyboard has a good pressure point. Nothing wobbles or rattles. The touchpad is very good !!! Have tested before buying a lot of netbooks and notebooks. Many of them were an imposition. Here, however, quality has been installed. The mouse buttons are integrated and have a good tactile feedback with a pleasant clicking sound (as in good mice). Operation is seamless: all gestures on the touch screen you can also make the touchpad. Wipe From Left: Change programs. Wipe From Right: Charm bar. Two-finger gesture: in documents / web pages scroll.
In Tablet mode (the rotated behind the on-screen keyboard automatically turns off) is also Hearthstone played here. Since the touch panel makes in 11.6 inches of fun. (Info way: The free-to-play Hearthstone there since December 2014 but alternatively also for Android tablets.)
The entire netbook has an excellent manufacturing quality. Stable, nothing wobbles or rattles. The display can be stable through the hinge in the desired position move (real 360 degrees). The weight is not for if you hold (Tablet mode) or drop on the thighs (Netbook mode) uncomfortable (but not so otimal like a tablet). The netbook is only little warm on the bottom. On the top (keyboard, touchpad) it stays cold. The fan is indeed perceptible, but very very quiet. The battery lasts about 3 hours at full capacity after the first full charging. Probably with time - as with any battery - again be considerably longer. IMPORTANT: The HP-assessed as optimal energy mode is preset, but in my opinion not optimal and was placed on efficient and individually adapted, without which it came to performance.
Many small details that make the handling pleasant:
On / off switch and volume rocker are tight. That's a good thing. The Win key in the screen lights up briefly in white when touched. Status LED embedded in white for the power button on the key. If you lift the netbook to the operation, it flashes discreetly. Status LED next to it for the power connector, which is illuminated in orange when the netbook is loaded (takes about 2 hours). There is a status LED for the WLAN traffic. The here on the network devices are detected without additional driver installations. The HD webcam delivers in Skype a clear picture, even in low light conditions. The microphone is good, so that is clearly heard in Skype. WLAN is stable.
Apps are installed quickly. Desktop programs are loaded quickly. Boot time is about 5 seconds !!!
For Windows 8:
As an experienced PC user can see the problems - if any - to solve with the necessary updates. Updating as such but still takes several hours (download, install, reboot). One should make the most of a weekend. Annoying, annoying after a while, but necessary, because then you have a current operating system. Windows 8.1 Update 2 is more secure and has more features. Caution: A layman can fail at this point and give up.
Conclusion:
Thanks to the N3540 CPU, the netbook delivers enough power to work and to play. RAM (4 GB) and HD (500 GB) are sufficiently large. HDMI connections and 1xUSB3, 2xUSB2, SD card, headphones are all there. Touchpad and touch screen are great. The sound super. The build quality is flawless. Size and Weight vote. Windows 8.1 Update 2 is perfect for this netbook !!!
A quarter yesterday I subtract of the display, because the viewing angle is still severely limited. Power but no problems, since the angle of the screen is so adjusted as desired and probably always has only one person in front of the netbook. For the red variant there was the Internet Christmas promotions in 2014 in which one can speak of a very good price / performance ratio. Priced at 350 Euro can only be described as good it here. Even for a quarter of a star deduction. Since you can not assign half stars, I have 5 chosen because the advantages outweigh it significantly.
Do not regret the purchase. On the contrary, a great piece of modern technology on the go. A technology-chameleon that adapts to the needs of its owner. :-)
Tip: With the Windows 8 Apps sent from the Windows Store drilled to the netbook right on (eg free: TuneIn, HERE Maps, Zattoo TV). Unlike other operating systems, Flash will continue to fully support the desktop.
