So first time for the installation:
Installation instructions allowed in places open to some questions that I could clear up the Internet with further research. Helpful to especially to the exact specifications of the rim (compatibility with other components) is the site of MSI. Supplied accessories extensive (more SATA 3 cables, SLI bridge etc.).
Otherwise board was easy to assemble and screw. Installation of the power supply was quite a fumbling, because this part of some ports Bordas left concealed below ..... but is probably also power supply and housing-dependent. Overall, little confusion in cabling. Funny in places the misspelling of MSI with the German translation in the user manual :-)
To install:
CPU and RAM immediately recognized correctly. When setting the SSD as a boot drive, I had to try around a bit, because the BIOS only displays the SSD as a "USB Flash Drive or" and it was not clear that it therefore thinks SSDs. But it was no big deal. Extensive customization of the system - and the CPU fan in the BIOS, and overclocking the entire menu. The included software can also, more on that below.
Operational:
Also, all components in Windows properly recognized and runs as far as everything clean and stable. The extensive configuration options in the BIOS, and much more at the mitgeliferten Software (z. B. MSI Command Center) are sometimes a bit exaggerated, because you can so many rules in the BIOS. Think here MSI wants to distinguish something.
When it comes to included software, I must say that I had some problems with the update software (MSI Life Update) here. Thus z. B. also the BIOS or the Onboard audio chip software is kept up to date. The part is designed somewhat incomprehensible and if you click on some buttons, simply nothing happens. Download times were initially unbearably long, has become better, think here MSI has readjusted.
Others included software (MSI Supercharger) I think "nice" but completely unnecessary. Who abused its gaming PC as mobile phone charging? In the 21st century has probably every child a 2nd socket for charging mobile :-)
Also I find the included superfluous "MSI Fastboot" (Fast Boot after next reboot), because the system boots just so pretty damn fast ... once got counted, there were around 20 seconds before Windows logon
So now the preserves - Conclusion:
After many many more hours gaming sessions I can say that system incl. Board runs after 8 hours Counter Strike, RUSE, Sniper Elite, Civilisation, Wolfenstein New Order with the highest settings etc. still as smooth as when the system would be fresh been booted. No wonder, because the Chill has not increased even after hours of operating time by 1 degree - neither CPU nor board itself. Have it checked off several times in the Command Center and the BIOS - because nothing happens !! Fair to say that, of course, is also related to the CPU cooler and the housing fans, 12 mm and 2 x of which I have installed 3 x 14 mm. But the design of the board bears also help, such as the dragon head heatsink around the CPU :-P
All in all, I would say that a very good board for reasonable money you get here and the approximately EUR 180.- surcharge on an Asus Maximus VI Extreme Motherboard Socket 1150 worth in my opinion little ... outdo RMAN is on frills such as WiFi, OC-Panel (ok that has resume its charming :-), etc. But who stays on the ground can stand up to the MSI Z87-GD65 UM better money as a highly cultured gaming powerhouse.
In this sense,
LG Waltz
